Project Spotlight: East Bay Wine Cellar and Lounge

In a stunning new construction on Cape Cod, Charles River Wine Cellars has transformed a vision into reality: a 2,500-bottle wine cellar paired with a refined lounge, offering the ultimate blend of form, function, and sophistication. This bespoke design redefines the basement experience, elevating it to a sanctuary of relaxation and curated indulgence.

Centrally located in the basement, the 18’ x 18’ space is a study in architectural balance. At its heart, the wine cellar dazzles with true-divided, insulated glass walls and doors by Hope’s Windows, allowing the wine collection to take center stage from both inside and out. The layout, a squared-off horseshoe, immerses guests in the cellar’s design while ensuring seamless integration with the adjoining lounge.

The interior celebrates a harmony of tradition and modernity. Rich Mahogany, chosen by the client after visiting Charles River’s showroom, is elevated with a walnut stain and used for both classic racking and contemporary elements. The centerpiece of the main wall features angled shelving, subtly lit with hidden LED accents, to spotlight the client’s most treasured vintages. Columns for magnum bottles flank this focal point, while a double-depth lower section accommodates additional storage, including original wooden wine cases. A continuous countertop ties it all together, blending functionality with elegance.

On the side walls, innovation takes the lead with the patented VINIUM Architectural Wine Storage system. This cutting-edge design combines stainless steel rods with Mahogany blocks, creating a sleek contrast against a white stone tile backdrop. The entire scene is brought to life with RGB LED lighting, casting dynamic hues across the stone veneer for a fresh, modern aesthetic.

The lounge is equally compelling, designed as a cozy counterpart to the cellar's cool sophistication. Styled with leather swivel chairs and a rustic coffee table, the space invites effortless entertaining while offering a direct view into the cellar’s treasures. Together, the wine cellar and lounge exemplify a sophisticated fusion of artistry and utility, serving as the ultimate centerpiece for this Cape Cod retreat.
